English Courses at inlingua Cardiff
We have 5 morning sessions (Monday to Friday) and 3 afternoon sessions (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday). We understand that not everyone can study full time, so students can choose the sessions that suit their lifestyle, with a minimum of 2 sessions per week.
General English
Each course takes approximately 12 weeks of full time study (8 Sessions). Students may join any Monday. In addition academic and General English Courses run throughout the year.
Course Objectives:
Inlingua Cardiff's ‘General English Courses’ will improve your ability to understand and use vocabulary and expressions common to everyday life. The courses will also improve your ability to express ideas clearly and with confidence, both in work and social situations. An inlingua placement test will be given to you on your first day to assess what level is right for your needs. Students can progress to the next level after passing an end-of-course test.
Level 1 Elementary – Designed for beginners so that they can communicate at a basic level with speakers of English on a number of essential topics.
Level 2 Pre-Intermediate – For learners with some knowledge of English. This level covers the main structures of the English language and vocabulary. At the end of the program the learners can speak about a greater variety of topics.
Level 3 Intermediate – This is for students with a good level of English or who have passed the level 2 test. A consolidation of all four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, level 3 gives our students the opportunity to reinforce their understanding of the English Language in all of its aspects.
Academic English
Course Objectives:
At inlingua Cardiff, we can help you prepare for your exams for both IELTS www.ielts.org and CAE www.cambridgeesol.org. These courses closely follow the specific book for each of these courses and are aimed at students that require a score of between 6.5 to 7. IELTS is a necessary requirement for anyone who wishes to study at a UK university and ensures that the student has the necessary level of Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing skills to make sure that they are ready to move onto University. The course also includes:
• Study skills/understanding the chosen exam.
• Understanding the exam marking scheme.
• Exam style questions.
• Revision.
Examinations can be taken at local centres and exam fees are not included in the price.

Course Materials
General English: Each individual is required to purchase the inlingua book and CD for the level that they are studying at a total price of £28.00. Supplementary resources will be supplied by the school.
Academic English: Each individual is required to purchase the appropriate materials in relation to the exams that they are preparing for, at a cost of approximately £20.00.
